The Search.

We are constantly engaged in search. Be it the search for happiness, the search for a teacher, the search for peace, the search for a sense of satisfaction, the search for approval, and so on.

We often spend several hours of several days in such search, to fill the void. We look here, there and everywhere! We look for things, places or people, which we "think" and "hope" will fill such a void. Often, such a search yields unsatisfactory results, leading to behavior classified as depression. We end up feeling empty, trying to make sense of why things have unfolded the way they have.

Do we have a choice? Can we do something that can prevent this from happening? Yes.

Everything we experience seems to be linked with something else that originates deep within, due to a search, be it for whatever. And all of this is linked, because of our minds.

When we look outside to quench our thirst for answers during our search, we might not always find the right answers. This leads to disappointment. We often look outside because we feel someone or something can make it better. This is linked to the fact that the mind "loves" to play "victim", and needs (or, desires for) empathy. This is the first step our mind begins to fail, and lose its potential.

Instead of looking outside for answers, if we look within, not only do we find what we were looking for, but, will also be able to find why we were looking for it in the first place. Thus, the search must not be directed at external or material entities, but, within. This is analogous to a doctor identifying the root cause of a diagnosed medical condition. And in a manner similar to healing the medical condition, we can quench our thirst for external entities as answers for our search.

The human mind is a very powerful entity, whether we like it or not. When we begin the search for "why did I get this thought / feeling / desire?", instead of "what can I do to overcome this, or to satisfy this?", we realize the truth. This is when we find the reason behind all our actions. This is when we can find answers to questions - both past and present. This will guide us forward.

It is only through such a search that we realize that whatever be the "problem", we can think of a solution. This is when you understand that the wall to climb is in front of you, and you've always had the rope in your hand. Just close your eyes and ask yourself a question, you realize that you already have the answer.

Only then do we realize that we have always inherently been happy, we have always had reasons to be happy, and that our mind is the greatest teacher. Everything originates there.
